VMC acts on pig disposal

It may be recalled that to get rid off the menace, Bhayeli villagers had poisoned more than 1,000 pigs that were destroying their fields three-odd weeks ago.

Setting right the storm water drain will, however, take at least two years, he says, hoping that by making these efforts the pig and dog menace will be at least reduced, if not eliminated.

Claiming that holding meetings would not solve the problem, Aloria said the civic body would spend Rs 1.44 crore from the Finance Commission8217;s grant on laying storm water drains. This is in addition to the Rs 40 lakhs received from the National Slum Development Project.

Meanwhile, District Development Officer DDO Anju Sharma said she was willing to lodge a police complaint against those people releasing pigs in villages, provided the villagers came out with names. She said so far she had not received any complaint from the villagers regarding the names of such people.
