Villagers protest against govt for 145;discrimination146; in plot allotments

Residents of the Kalpi village in Ambala district staged a dharna against the state government alleging discriminating in allotting plots, on Thursday. The protesters said the plots were given to 8220;undeserving8221; people than the needy.

On the occasion of Samajik Kranti Samaroh, possession letters for residential plots 100 sq yards were given to the scheduled castes, backward classes and weaker section.

Ambala Division Commissioner Mohinder Kumar said the Haryana government was committed to settle people from the three categories and had introduced the new scheme 8212; Samajik Kranti social renaissance to bring change in the life of the unprivileged.

As soon as the commissioner left the venue, the villagers stood up and started raising slogans against the government. The protesters gheraoed the vehicle of Additional Deputy Commissioner ADC Renu Phulia and shouted slogans against the state government.

Even those who got the possession letters insisted that the government should construct structures on the plots. The situation was brought under control after Phulia assured them of placing their demand before the government.
