ALLAHABAD, January 19: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today issued an ultimatum to the Centre to hand over 42 acres of land to Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Trust (RJB) by March 12 next year. The land around the area where the Babri Masjid stood was taken from the VHP by the central government in January 1993.``If the government fails to hand it over to the RJB Trust by Shivratri in Krishna Paksha of Falgun month of Hindu Calender (March 12) next year, we will forcibly occupy it any time and any moment,'' warned the chief of RJB Trust, Paramhans Ram Chandra Das.However, official spokesman of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Swami Chinmayanand said the warning was the personal opinion of Paramhans. ``The official decision will be taken by the Dharma Sansad tomorrow after discussing various opinions including that of Paramhans,'' said Chinmayanand, who is a BJP MP as well. The denial notwithstanding, VHP sources have confirmed that the Sansad was not likely to announce the date of construction. It would rather issue a warning to the government to find a negotiated solution or get the VHP land released by expediting the court proceedings, within a year after which it would be ready for an ``open confrontation'' with the authorities. This would also give the VHP breathing space to mobilise its cadre by March next year. It could not a be mere conincidence that Uttar Pradesh Assembly would also go to polls in March next year. ``The VHP gave time to all Prime Ministers - from V.P. Singh to P.V. Narasimha Rao - to find a solution. This is why we are giving some time to Atal Behari Vajpayee also,'' Paramhans said. The Dharma Sansad would also announce an Ayodhya to New Delhi Yatra of 11,000 sants to coincide with the budget session of Parliament this year to convey him Sansad's decision. The yatra will start from Ayodhya on February 18 and reach Delhi on February 25, said a senior VHP leader.Incidentally, this is not the first time VHP would be doling out threat to the Government. It had earlier on January 19, 1986 warned the Uttar Pradesh government to open the lock of RJB Temple (inside Babri Mosque) by February 8 that year, failing which VHP workers would forcibly open the doors themselves. The doors were opened on February 1 itself, albeit under orders of Faizabad district judge, Justice KM Pandey. The RJB Mandir Nirman Samiti comprising about 40 members, which met her last night, is learnt to have chalked out an elaborate programme to mobilise its cadre. They will celebrate golden jubilee of pran pratishtha (idol installation) in Somnath temple by organising jalabhishek in all Shiv temples across the country in September and October this year. The VHP will take out 13 crore Ram-jap yatras throughout the country in November and December with a vow to secure Ayodhya for temple construction. This will be done on the patterns of similar Ram-jaap yatras taken out by Samartha Guru Ram Das (Shivaji's guru) to release Delhi from Moghuls. Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of VHP, would be recruiting and training some 30 lakh volunteers by the end of this year, VHP leaders claim. Those attending last night's meeting included RSS functionary looking after VHP affairs Suryanarayana Rao, former Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth Badrikashram, Swami Vasudewanand, Mahant Awaidyanath, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Mahant Awadheshanand of Juna Akhada, Nritya Gopal Das of Ayodhya besides VHP leaders like Ashok Singhal, VH Dalmia, Acharya Giriraj Kishore, Pravinbhai Togadia, Onkar Bhave, Swami Chinmayanand and of course Paramhans. The Dharma Sansad starting in the afternoon skirted the temple issue and passed resolutions on terrorism and Ganga-raksha. The temple issue along with conversion issue will be taken up on Saturday.
