The much-awaited one-on-one between chairman of the national selection committee Dilip Vengsarkar and BCCI president Sharad Pawar has been delayed by a day. That means the Vengsarkar’s grievances about compensation for the financial loss that he occurred due to the BCCI gag or the restrictions on the selectors haven’t yet been addressed.

But the BCCI’s financial committee did hike the dearness and traveling allowance of all officials that in turn will mean the selectors too will gain from this change. BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said, “The dearness allowance is raised from Rs 5000 to 10,000 and traveling allowance from Rs 7000 to 10,000.” These financial committee recommendations will be put up at the general body meeting to be ratified.

At the inauguration of Mumbai Cricket Association’s indoor cricket facility at Bandra Kurla Complex here, Vengsarkar and Pawar shared the stage but the thorny issues that the chairman of selectors had raised in his letter to the president were not discussed

Meanwhile, the finance committee meeting today decided the pay packages for various foreign players that will take part in the IPL.

From the figures made available by the BCCI, among the 34 foreign players signed, Australian great leg-spinner Shane Warne is among the highest paid cricketer with $ 4,00,000.

Another retired Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath is placed second with $ 350,000 while Pakistan middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf, who moved from BCCI rebel league ICL to IPL, will be getting $ 330,000.

Former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming has been offered $ 350,000 while 10 other cricketers received offers in the $ 225,000 bracket.

Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar ($2,25000) and captain Shoaib Malik ($ 300,000) have also confirmed their participation. Muttiah Muralitharan has been offered $ 250,000 dollars. Sri Lankan Nuwan Zoysa happens to be the lowest paid cricketer in the league with $100,000.
