Varsity students protest fee hike

CHANDIGARH, JAN 19: Students from various universities of Punjab gathered here today to protest the hike in fees.The activists of Punjab Joint Students Action Committee, Punjab Students Union and Students Federation of India were among those who participated in the rally held near the Chandigarh Housing Board roundabout here.

The protesters were demanding end to commercialism in education and withdrawal in the hike in fee of several universities such as Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev University and Panjab University here. They also sought allocation of more funds for education.

Various speakers said it was unfortunate that education was getting more and more inaccessible for the common man.Among those who addressed the rally were Joint Students8217; Action Committee Surinder.
