Campaign to mark AIDS day
A campaign to fight AIDS with assistance of the youth will be initiated on Tuesday to mark the `World AIDS Day’. The inauguration will be held at the M S University Pavilion at 4.30 pm in the presence of Mayor Bharti Vyas, Vadodara Zilla Panchayat president Kalyanbhai Patel and MSU Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane. The State government, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, District Collectorate, Zilla Panchayat and AIDS Control Committee, jointly conducting the campaign, have appealed to the general public to take active part in the same.

Telecom stir
Group C and D cadres of all the three federations and their associated unions in the Vadodara Department of Telecom will go on an indefinite strike with effect from December 2 midnight following a nationwide strike call given by the NFTE, FNTO and BTEF to its members. Members of the three federations met at the city’s Central Telephone Exchange on Monday and formed a committee comprising the district secretary of every union along with 33 members. K P Pandey, I F Desai and G D Patel were appointed the committee secretary, convener and treasurer, respectively. The federations have put forth 17 issues in their list of demands to the government.

Meet adjourned
The General Board meeting of the VMC was adjourned on Monday after paying tributes to Roads and Buildings Minister Savjibhai Korat, who died recently.

Candidates
The Congress and the RJP have selected Jayesh Tadvi and Satish Vasava as their candidates respectively for the by-election to tribal seat in ward number 26.
