Renewal of bus passes for the blind
Following the expiry of the State Transport passes issued for the blind on August 1, the Social Defence Wing of the government has made arrangements to renew the same at the office of the Blind Welfare Council at 47/A, Middle Class Society, Fatehgunj. The interested are requested to visit the BWC office between 10 am to 4 pm and carry the original and copy of the certificate of the civil surgeon, photocopies of the first and second pages of their ration card and all pages of the expired pass, besides two stamp-sized photographs.

Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans, V Seshan has been honoured with the National Award of Excellence, instituted by the Peevee Charitable Trust, for his contribution to education at school level.

Seminar
A seminar on Innovative Science Education Programme8217; based on the principles of Learning by Doing; Learning by Discovery and Learning from Environment will be organised jointly by the Faculty of Science, M S University, and Shishu Milap on November 7. The seminar will be held at the Seminar Hall, Department of Biochemistry at 2 pm.

Art show
Art Underground, the city-based Digital Art Gallery, will organise a Digital Art Group Show 8212; Young at Art 8212; in the city on November 14 and 15 featuring the works of 101 children, based on Lord Ganesha, women, animals, birds, vision and environment. The works will be auctioned on November 15 at the Chandarva Hall, Welcome group Hotel, R C Dutt Road. Leading model from Mumbai Namrata Barua will initiate the auction with Bharat Mody, Member, Governing Council, Vadodara Centre for Animal Rescue and Emergency. The money raised for the auction will be donated to VCARE for the construction of the veterinary hospital and shelter.

Free camp
Members of the Vadodara branch of the Association of the Otolaryngologists of India and the Indian Medical Association will hold a free camp for senior citizens8217; deafness assessment and provide them hearing aids, if required, on November 11. The camp, also marking the National Day for Deaf will be held at Bhailal Amin Hall, Salatwada from 9 am.

Hiralal Bhavani, former vice-dean and head of civil engineering department, Faculty of Technology and Engineering, MSU, has been nominated as the Man of the Year 1998 by the American Biographical Institute.
