
Doctors stir enters Day 8
The indefinite strike launched by resident doctors attached to the New Civil Hospital, to press for withdrawal of the evening OPD system, entered its eighth day on Tuesday.
Authorities were hard pressed to make up for the absence of more than 250 resident doctors, who are adamant on not withdrawing the strike. Association president Pritu Dhalaria claimed their counterparts in Vadodara8217;s SSG Hospital had extended their support to the strike. He said if the state government failed to withdraw the directive on evening OPD in three days, even Vadodara8217;s resident doctors would go on strike to express their solidarity.
Convention
The Gujarat Khet Vikas Parishad will hold a convention on Bhuria Committee8217; in Vyara on June 21. Prominent tribal leaders Jinabhai Darji and Mangrol MLA Ramanbhai Chaudhary, Gram Swaraj Samiti convenor Dr Satyakam Joshi and Samiti president Ganpatbhai Gamit will speak at the convention. The convention, which is to begin at 11 am, will address various issues relating to tribal autonomy and self-rule in tribal areas. The issues will be discussed within the framework of Bhuria Committee recommendations, which is to be implemented soon.
MA viva-voce
Those students who have submitted dissertations as a part of their Master of Library Science programme, have been asked to appear for viva-voce in the library science department of the South Gujarat University on June 20 and 25 at 12 o8217;clock, according to a statement issued by Co-ordinator Kunjansinh Thakore here on Tuesday.
Transferred
Surat District Social Defence officer Ishwarbhai Chaudhary has been transferred to Bharuch. In Surat, Chaudhary was also holding the additional charge of child marriage prevention officer, for which he won laurels. Chaudhary is being replaced by Manubhai Singlani from Bharuch.
Animal welfare
Deputy director of the district Animal Husbandry has asked villagers to immunise their animals in view of the monsoon season.
