
Arms-holders told to deposit weapons
The city police have asked licenced weapon holders to deposit their arms and ammunition in their respective police stations by 4 p.m. on Thursday. The instructions, according to a notification issued by the police commissioner8217;s office, have been issued in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Case revoked
The Prevention of Black Marketing Act case against Kamlesh Shah, manager of a Makarpura-based kerosene depot that was raided last year, has been revoked, an official spokesman of the District Supply Office said on Wednesday. He said Shah had appealed to the special departmental court, which revoked the district order.
PAN allotment
People whose applications have been found defective by the Income Tax Department for allotment of Permanent Account Numbers have been requested to contact room number 11 at the Aykar Bhavan Office, Race Course Circle, at the earliest. All applications will be dealt with by September 20.
Election meet
BJP candidate from Vadodara Lok Sabha seat Jayaben Thakkar addressed a special meeting of SCs and STs near Manubhai Towers in Vadodara on Wednesday evening. Mahendra Parmar, city party president K K Shah, State labour minister Bhupendra Lakhawala and mayor Umakant Joshi also addressed the gathering.
ST bus cards
Disabled persons registered with the Vadodara District Social Welfare Department, who had applied for new laminated cards and ST bus coupons in May, have to deposit their old cards and leftover coupons with the department between 11 am and 6 pm in person. Laminated cards will be issued on the spot.
Threat withdrawn
The teaching staff of the Polytechnic College have withdrawn their boycott of the Lok Sabha elections following Tuesday8217;s government resolution that the staff would receive their pay as per scales in other Polytechnics.
