Engg admissions will take some more time
Official sources in the Gujarat Technical Education Board have clarified that the engineering and polytechnic merit list will take some more time to get finalised due to the delay in re-checking of HSC and SSC results. Clearing the confusion about engineering admissions, sources in the Board said the interviews for admissions to engineering colleges outside Gujarat will be conducted on July 14 at 11 a.m. and not on Wednesday. And this information concerns only those students who have applied for admissions outside state colleges having a quota for Gujarat.
Special train
A special Express train will run between Vadodara and Dakor on July 9 with the rake of the Valsad-Vadodara Intercity Express. The Dn train will leave Vadodara at 10.50 a.m. and reach Anand at 11.35 a.m. Departing at 11.40 a.m. from Anand, the train will reach Dakor at 12.20 p.m. The Up train will leave Dakor at 3.20 p.m. and reach Anand at 4.10 p.m. The train will depart from Anand at 4.15 p.m. and arrive at Vadodara at 5.10 p.m. The train will leave for Valsad at 5.20 p.m. as per schedule.
Beautifying act
The Beautiful Baroda Council under the guidance of Superintendent of Parks and Gardens Mohan Patel will conduct a programme during the monsoon to plant special grade six to eight feet high saplings on all arterial roads beginning with Mandvi main road. The first phase of the tree plantation drive will start on Wednesday at the Bank road, Mandvi.
MSW test
The admission test for the Master course in Social Work (MSW) will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Faculty of Social Work, M S University, according to faculty Dean Anil Navale. Students are requested to be present at the faculty at 10.30 a.m.
TV magazine
Vadodara News Magazine (VNM), a local television magazine, became operational from Sunday. The VNM was inaugurated by District Collector Anil J Mukim. The magazine will telecast local news and events on a daily basis.
Computer course
The All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) has announced a three-month computer course in Office Automation for in-service personnel to help them fine-tune their systems with latest softwares. HSC-passed students undergraduates and graduates are eligible and can have application forms from the AIILSG office at Nehru Bhavan, Rajmahal Road, till July 10, except Sundays.

Elected chief
Madhusudan Pillai was recently elected president of Baroda Kerala Samajam netting 319 votes from the total 378 votes polled while K J Varghese became the vice-president getting 298 votes. Over 16 per cent of the members abstained from voting.
