The dominance of Chinese forces in the Olympic torch relay in the national capital is a matter of serious concern and derogatory to India’s self-esteem, BJP MP Raghunandan Sharma said.
“The relay race of Olympic torch on Thursday from Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate in Delhi, during which Chinese forces dominated the security, is an attempt by the neighbouring country to display its big-brother attitude and the Indian Government surrendering before such an act will never be tolerated by the people of India,” Sharma said in a statement on Friday.
“The scene that emerged during the race is not only painful but disgraceful. The way Chinese commandos took the torch in their circle has put a question mark on India’s sovereignty and security,” he said.
The Indian security forces were kept away from the torch and was protected by Chinese commandos, which has hurt the self-respect of sportspersons and citizens, he added.
