UPA for enhanced cooperation with allies, Oppn

Before being hit by Shibu Soren8217;s conviction, the Congress-led UPA seemed all set to rev up the Government8217;s coordination mechanism within Parliament 8212; not just between the allies and the Government, but also between the Government and the Opposition. As part of the measure, the all-party meeting at the Speaker8217;s chamber before the day8217;s sitting was revived on Tuesday. Next in line is a 50-member-strong UPA think-tank that would discuss 8216;core issues8217;.

The effect of the Speaker8217;s morning meeting was already evident on Tuesday. The BJP agreed to re-phrase its adjournment motion on internal security the Lok Sabha debate was scheduled for Wednesday before the Soren verdict came when the Government objected to the text.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi also discussed plans to hold breakfast meeting with the UPA partners and also with those who lend support from outside. UPA already has a coordination mechanism with the Left. Also, on Sonia Gandhi8217;s initiative, the Congress party would be holding interactive session with Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
