
GUWAHATI, AUGUST 10: Ulfa militants ambushed two vehicles carrying 15 CRPF personnel by exploding a powerful device in Bilpara on National Highway number 31 in Assam8217;s Nalbari district cutting off North-East with the rest of the country for several hours today.
No one was injured in the explosion which damaged windscreen of one of the vehicles carrying the 80 CRPF battalion from Guwahati to Nalbari, two kms from Ghograpara police station, official sources said here.
The remotely controlled improvised explosive device IED caused a three-feet deep crater on the highway disrupting road traffic for several hours which could be restored only in the afternoon.
Police and paramilitary forces launched a combing operation in the area but no arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile, sources in the North-East Frontier railway headquarters at Maligaon said that rail traffic has been restored in the broad gauge section of the railway which was suspended after a goods train was derailed by a powerful blast in the early hours yesterday by suspected NDFB militants between Kokrajhar and Salakati.
The NF Railway also revised timings of several trains including Rajdhani Express.
NF Railway sources said, the 2436 Rajdhani Express would leave New Delhi at 0930 hrs instead of 1245 hrs on every Sunday and Friday instead of Monday and Friday and arrive at Guwahati at 1745 hrs instead of 2030 hrs.
The corresponding 2435 Rajdhani Express via Lucknow would leave Guwahati at 0600 hrs on every Sunday and Tuesday.
