AMBALA, Nov 12: Two prisoners undergoing life imprisonment and also facing trial for jail escape, again escaped from custody of the police which had taken them to produce in the courts here yesterday.

The escapees identified as Ramphal and Pappu were earlier imprisoned for murders under Section 302 of IPC separately. While Ramphal belongs to a village under Police Station Samalkha, Pappu is a resident of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. Both had escaped earlier and are facing trial under Section 224 of IPC.

Both the undertrials made their escape after they were lodged in judicial lock-up in the courts by breaking rusted iron rods fitted in toilets attached to the lock-up. Although police guards were on duty in the front, they succeeded in escaping from the backside by scaling a window.

Both have been again booked under Section 224 of IPC for escaping from custody of the police which was on guard duty.
