December 1: Two hitmen affiliated to the D K Rao faction of the Chhota Rajan gang were arrested from their hideouts in central Mumbai late last night.
Acting on a tip-off, a special squad attached to zone-III laid a trap at Bhoiwada. The suspect walked into the trap and later revealed he was Lawrence Bastav Cardoz, a Chhota Rajan gangster wanted in connection with a murder and extortions under the jurisdiction of Dadar, Worli, N M Joshi Marg and Wagle Estate Thane police stations.
During interrogation, Cardoz told the police he had kept his revolver with an associate, Dilip Shankar Jadhav, a resident of Bhavani Shankar Road, Dadar. A police party rushed to the hideout, arrested Jadhva and recovered a foreign-made revolver.
Investigations have revealed that Jadhav too was involved in murder and extortion cases at Dadar, Antop Hill, Andheri and Sion.
