SATARA, SEPT 19: In a swoop early Saturday, State CID sleuths arrested two more youths in connection with the Sharad Levhe murder case. Nine persons including former minister of state and BJP nominee for Satara Assembly seat, Udayanraje Bhosale, have so far been arrested for their alleged role in the killing of NCP councillor Levhe hours before Satara went to polls.

The duo, Amar Bhande (25) from Guruwar Peth and Moreshwar Chowkwale (32) from Shaniwar Peth were produced in court on Saturday along with Vyankappa Hayyal (19) from Sangam Mahuli and Bharat Sangade (23) from Godoli. The latter had been held Friday.

CID counsel, additional government pleader Vasant Ponkshe demanded 15 days police custody for all accused, including the four arrested earlier. But Chief Judicial Magistrate Kamal Vadgaonkar ordered that the four youths, produced in the court Saturday, be remanded in police custody only till Monday.

Hayyal and Sangade were picked up on Friday afternoon while Bhande and Chowkwale were arrestedaround 4.30 am on Saturday.

Meanwhile, prime suspect in the case, Udayanraje, is still in the Civil Hospital here while a panel of expert doctors is expected to submit a report on his health. The report is being sought in view of a revision petition by CID officials who are seeking police custody for Udayanraje. He was admitted to the hospital hours after his arrest when he complained of chest pain and fluctuating blood pressure.
