Two lakh biscuit packets for Kargil

PATIALA, June 23: In a novel gesture to the soldiers fighting in the Kargil sector, the Bakemans Industries today despatched two lakh packets of biscuits for the jawans. A convoy of trucks carrying the consignment of biscuits was flagged off by Maj Gen P.P.S. Bhandari, GOC of the First Armoured Division, at a simple but impressive function at the Bakemans factory here this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Bhandari recorded his deep appreciation of the quot;thoughtful gesturequot; of the owners of Bakemans Industries and thanked the management of the company on behalf of the Army. He said more than the material, it was the thought and the feelings that mattered. By despatching a big consignment of biscuits, the Bakemans unit had given a message to the jawans that the entire nation was with them.

Vijay Gupta, Vice-President Operations, said the company had despatched two lakh packets of Gluco Gold biscuits, which were light in weight and nutritious. Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bir and G.S. Walia, General Manager Institutional Sales of Bakemans Industries.
