PUNE, FEBRUARY 7: In a shocking incident, two out of three elderly citizens including a doctor, alleged to have blackmailed and raped a 49-year-old housewife over the past one-and-half years, were arrested on Saturday and produced before the court on Sunday following a complaint by the woman.
Those arrested included Madhav Chintaman Raste 64 of Natraj Housing Society, Karvenagar, and Dr Madhukar Eknath Wable 74 of Madhuban colony, Karvenakar, while Vinayak Krishnaji Lele of Sadashivpeth is reported to be absconding, according to police.
According to an FIR filed by the complainant, the trio had allegdly raped the woman on several occasions between August, 1998, and November, 1999, after having taken her nude photographs. She had to give in to their demands since they threatened to make her photographs public.
The woman, according to the complaint, was suffering from acute abdomenal pain and had approached Dr Wable through Raste and Lele in August, 1998, when she was allegedly given something to drink following which she fell unconscious and was allegedly raped after her nude pictures were taken.
The housewife, who was threatened that the pictures would be made public, said that she had to succumb to their lust and had been criminally assaulted at the residences of Dr Wable and Raste and even at the Saras Hotel.
Dr Wable had retired as a surgeon from Government Hospital in Beed, Raste had retired from the Accounts department in a defence establishment while lele had worked in a school. The arrested duo have been remanded to three days police custody.
