
Two persons were killed in two separate road mishaps in the city recently.
Dagdu Bandal, 84, was killed on Saturday after a speeding Mercedes car ran over him on the Mumbai-Banglore highway near Warje. Ramakrishna Rahate, 42, who was riding the car was booked by the Warje police.
The police said that Dagdu was crossing the road at around 11.45 am when the speeding car hit him. He was injured seriously, who later died. Rahate, a resident of Jogeshwari, Mumbai has been booked under sections 279, 304 A, 427 of the IPC and 119/177.
In another incident, a 22-year-old youth was killed when a tractor hit him in front of the MSEB sub-station at Hinjewadi on December 18 and the accused, Navnath Kadam was arrested by Hinjewadi police on Saturday. According to police, Kadam was driving the tractor on a steep slope in front of the MSEB sub-station when the tractor swerved on the narrow road and hit Amol Gaikwad. Gaikwad had severe head injuries and was rushed to the Lokmanya hospital in Nigdi, but, but died on December 19.
