Patiala, Oct 29: The Patiala Vigilance Department today claimed to have caught red-handed two persons involved in a controversial fertiliser scam while trying to bribe the reader of the superintendent of police, vigilance.

According to sources in the vigilance department, Kashmiri Lal Arora, the owner of the V.K. Fertiliser, Jalandhar and Himat kumar, the owner of the Fertilizer Cana Corporation, Jalandhar tried offer Rs 10,000 as bribe to ASI Kuldeep Singh, who is the reader to SP, vigilance. They wanted the ASO not to produce the records concerning their factories. Both were caught red-handed and a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the them.

The sources said the records of the two firms were needed regarding the fertiliser scam case pending before the department for a long time.
