Bowled over by its pace and entertainment value, Adam Gilchrist says Twenty20 will play a big role in world cricket after the success of the ongoing World Cup.
8220;As a general rule, we have enjoyed it and realise that it8217;s going to play a big part in world cricket,8221; Gilchrist was quoted as saying in The Australian newspaper.
The wicketkeeper-batsman was of the view that this format of cricket would contribute a lot to the game.
8220;I think it8217;s very much a positive for the game. I8217;ve been wrestling back and forward with it. Just on face value, I do think it8217;s going to add a lot to the game. I do think it8217;s going to improve one-day cricket,8221; he said.
Gilchrist felt the slam-bang approach of Twenty20 would also help in promotion of the game.
8220;It8217;s going to create more interest in the game now. I think it8217;s a great product and I do think it8217;s going to make everything a little bit more intriguing as to what goes on,8221; he said.
