Pandit Chintaman R Vyas, who passed away on January 10, 2002 in Kolkata at the age of 78, was a maestro of khayal. His style was an amalgamation of Kirana, Gwalior and Agra gharanas. 8220;My father never differentiated between a disciple and son. He always used to say, do your work sincerely and you will automatically get the results. Today classical music is moving towards commercialisation. But we need to create a balance between old school of thoughts and modernisation. We have been organising this programme with the sole motive to promote Indian classical music. And we are happy with the kind of response that we have got over these six years,8221; says Pandit Subhash Vyas, eldest son and disciple of pandit C R Vyas.
