CHANDIGARH, May 13: Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma here today launched a novel training module, Tarang, for JBT teachers to improve the standard of primary education in the state.

Inaugurating the training programme, Sharma said the module had been prepared by the teachers themselves and would bring a new awakening in their thoughts. The Minister said the programme would enable them to promote community participation and ownership.

and also provide them an insight into child-centered-activity-based joyful class-rooms, thereby empowering them for improved class-room transactions and creating a vision of an ideal school. He appreciated the efforts made by the then Haryana Prathmik Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad director R. K. Khullar in formulating a comprehensive and interesting training programme.

The parishad, which had prepared this module, had trained 200 master trainers these will now help train all new teachers recruited in the districts covered under the District Primary Education Programme DPEP. The government aims to train about 10,000 teachers in the next two months with financial assistance from the World Bank.

Dwelling on the achievements of DPEP, the Minister said there was about 11.8 per cent increase in the enrolment of children in schools in Jind, Hisar, Kaithal and Sirsa districts covered under DPEP, compared to 0.7 per cent in other districts. Similarly, enrollment of girls had also shown 15.9 per cent increase in the DPEP districts as against other districts. He said the programme was being introduced in Bhiwani, Gurgaon and Mahendergarh districts in the state.

Sharma said the government had constituted 3204 village-level education committees to improve facilities in primary schools by executing civil works like construction of single room toilets and boundary wall, installing of water pumps, carrying out repair works on school buildings. In addition, a sum of Rs 2000 was being given to every village education committee for environment improvement in their schools. These committees had already executed works worth Rs 7.49 crore, he added.

The Minister also used the opportunity to list the steps 8212; such as finalisation of new transfer policy and implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations 8212; taken by the HVP-BJP government during the past two years.
