Too early to talk about PM candidate: Manmohan

Manmohan Singh said it is 'too early' to say who would be Congress' potential Prime Ministerial candidate for the next general elections, saying there are several party leaders who are equally qualified or better qualified than him.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said it is 8220;too early8221; to say who would be Congress8217; potential Prime Ministerial candidate for the next general elections, saying there are several party leaders who are equally qualified or better qualified than him.

He talked to mediapersons on several topics including the global financial crisis and said top priority will be given to insulate India from global financial crisis.

8220;It8217;s too early to talk about the potential Prime Ministerial candidate for the Congress as there are several leaders who are equally qualified or better qualified than me,8221; Singh told reporters on board the aircraft returning home after his 10-day visit to US and France.

The Prime Minister8217;s remarks come days after senior party leader M Veerappa Moily had said Rahul Gandhi hundred per cent fills the bill for the PM8217;s post.

On the future of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, the Prime Minister said the question of changing the Home Minister in the wake of rising terror attacks in the country is not something he is going to discuss in the press conference.
