AMBALA, April 24: Union Football Club beat JK Club 2-1 to win the title in the Rai Bahadur Banarasi Dass Memorial football tournament. The match winner was scored by Deepak Gurang in the 60th minute.

After a barren first half, Union Club drew the first blood in the 55th minute through Bawa, who scored with a neat header.

But their joy was shortlived as on the counter-attack, JK Club got an equaliser. In the 56th Tamy ran down the left flank and his powerful shot from top of the box beat the rival goalkeeper 1-1.

However, four minutes later, Deepak Gurang8217;s scored the match winner when he pushed the ball into the right corner of the net 2-1.

Eight teams took part in the meet. Nirmal Vij, Chairman Municipality, Ambala City gave away the prizes to the teams.
