PUNE, June 21: The Ministry of Defence had earlier deputed its officers from the Armed Forces for short-term courses in management at the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies SIMS. Now, serving Armed Forces personnel equal to the rank of Colonel, will learn the lexicon of management for the entire two-year period as part of their study leave.
Prof Ranjeet Mudholkar, SIMS director who has received 400-500 applications from defence personnel for a total of 50 seats, is engaged in structuring the course, slated to begin from this academic year. The central government8217;s decision of raising the retirement age by another two years from 58 8211; 60 years is expected to stall promotions in the Armed Forces, reasons Mudholkar.
