PA.Sangma today said he would hold talks on seat-sharing with the NDA after the dissolution of the Lok Sabha this week.

‘‘I don’t think it is difficult for the NDA to accommodate us because we are not going to ask for many seats,’’ Sangma said, whose supporters claim entire party units of UP, MP and Punjab are with him. ‘‘We will try to field as many candidates as possible, subject to the understanding we will have with NDA,’’ he said.

Sangma had declared himself as the president of NCP recently and a decision of whose is the real NCP, his or the one that Sharad Pawar heads is pending with the Election Commission.

Sangma dismissed the perception that his party would be confined to the North-East. ‘‘NCP is a national party and we will continue with it. The impression that we will confine ourselves to North-East is not correct,’’ he said.

On Assam, Sangma said, ‘‘I have congratulated Brindaban Goswami, newly elected president of Asom Gana Parishad and requested him to join the North-East People’s Forum.’’ Sangma said that the EC had asked him and Pawar to submit documents by February 9 and the hearing would take place on February 13 to decide which was the real NCP. ‘‘We are confident the judgment will go in our favour,’’ he asserted.
