The Narendra Modi-led Gujarat Government has brought about a perceptible change in the quality of life of people in the state through various initiatives taken in the last six years, says a report by global consultancy firm Ernst and Young.
“Gujarat has been bringing about a silent socio-economic revolution and is ready to show the way as a role model… It has managed to bring about a perceptible change in the quality of life of its people in some of the remotest corners,” the report Gujarat: Beyond the Obvious said. It said the 72 initiatives conceptualised and implemented by the state Government in as many months have brought about a socio-economic transformation, benefiting scores of people in across the state.
Measures by the Government to improve infrastructure, attract investments and provide higher and technical education have been instrumental in improving the overall quality of life, it said. Through public-private partnerships, the state has created infrastructure like ports and roads. This model has gone beyond the traditional domains of hard infrastructure and has permeated in areas like health, education and culture. Investment promotion efforts by the state have resulted in investment commitments to the tune of US$ 210 billion, which is also reflected in a study by RBI that has ranked Gujarat first in respect of share of new corporate investments, the report said.
