Three killed in road mishap

KHARAR, Dec 4: Three persons were killed and four others injured when a speeding truck crushed them at Kurali about 10 km from here yesterday.The deceased have been identified as Purshotam Singh, a Punjab Home Guard constable, his wife Rama Devi and one Gurmeet Singh, all residents of Kurali. The seriously injured persons included Ram Parsad, Ranjit Singh, Kamaljeet Singh and Kirpal Singh. They were rushed to the PGI, Chandgiarh.

Kurali SHO Jasdev Singh said the accident took place at 8 p.m. when the truck on its way to Kharar crushed the victims who were standing at different places near the bus stand. The truck crushed the cop and his wife who were riding a scooter near the petrol pump and then crushed the victims near the octroi post before victimising others. Finally, the driver lost control and the truck rammed into an electric pole. The people nabbed the driver and handed him over to the police.
