KOLHAPUR, AUG 23: Three persons were killed and four others injured when their tempo collided with a truck on Miraj-Pandharpur highway, near Ghorpadi phata in Sangli district, late last night.
Police said the victims were returning in the tempo after a visit to Pandharpur8217;s Vitthal temple when the mishap occurred.
The deceased were identified as Dattatraya Gundu Sawant 40, who was driver of the Trax, Deepak Balasaheb Sawant 20 and Ashok Dhondi Jadhav 35 8212; all residents of Temblaiwadi in Kolhapur.
Their bodies were brought here this morning, police said.
The injured, also residents of Kolhapur, have been admitted to Mission Hospital at Miraj, police said, adding that the truck driver Balasaheb Annasaheb Patil and the cleaner were absconding.
