VADODARA, Dec 30: A three-day seminar and exhibition on Building Material 8212; Build Arch 8217;998217; 8212; will be jointly organised in the city from February 5 to 7 by the Builders Association of India BAI and the Kalabhavan Architects Alumni KAA Foundation.

Announcing this at a press conference on Wednesday, chairman of the BAI8217;s Vadodara centre Ashok Patel said, 8220;The exhibition aims to galvanise the development of the construction and building industry so as to improve the standards of urban and rural infrastructure in the changing Global environment.8221;

Build Arch 8217;99 will be an exposition of the new developments in the building industry, state-of-the-art technologies, building materials and the best in architectural innovation, he said, adding that the fundamental problems of the city such as water supply, traffic and other basic amenities will be put into focus at the seminar.

Former vice-president of the BAI Jagdish Parekh said that the lack of co-ordination between the purchaser and the seller had encouraged the interference of middlemen in the deals fixed. 8220;The intermediate parties, naturally, use this as an opportunity to make profits, thus resulting in an increased cost of materials purchased and in turn that of the building. With this exhibition, we hope to establish a direct contact between sellers and buyers and eliminate the intercession of the intermediate parties so that unnecessary price rise of buildings can be avoided,8221; he said.

More than 3,000 delegates, including professionals like architects, civil engineers, contractors, interior designers and consultants, from across the country are expected to attend the exhibition.

The proceeds of the entire event will be forwarded towards the KAA8217;as plans to promote a Design Centre at the city and complete the building complex for the Department of Architecture, M S University. Contributions towards the same will receive a 100 per cent tax exemption. For details write to Build Arch 8217;99 at 103, Vishal Chamber, 34, Vishwas Colony, Alkapuri or call 342861.
