
NEW DELHI, May 4: A mob of residents from the Dasghara village near Inderpuri in south-west Delhi blocked the Todapur road in protest against the lack of water in their area. The residents put up a blockade in the form of stones and nails on both sides of the carriage way forcing the traffic off the road.
The agitators, comprising mainly of women said that they would not go home till they their water supply was restored. Vehicles from Naraina, Inderpuri, Pusa road and other west Delhi colonies had to be diverted by the local police. There were no reports of violence. The residents also protested against the delay of the Rs 30 lakh pipeline project, which was reportedly cleared by former chief minister Sahib Singh. According to some in the area, they had been without water for two years and their only source, a well, had dried up.
