CHANDIGARH, June 7: Clear focus, clarity of concept and a consistent effort has made them sail through with flying colours. Thus explains a section of students with a score above 92 per cent in the CBSE Class X examination, the results of which were declared today.

8220;I have always believed in a target oriented approach, and that has paid off in my exams,8221; says Nandini Nehru of the Sacred Heart School, who has secured 93 per cent marks in the CBSE matric exam.

She says she could have scored even better had she taken up Sansrit instead of Hindi. She relied on self-study, with a little extra coaching, and says that her study hours never exceeded three hours.

Divya Sharma of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, says her habit of reading, thinking and deep study has won her good results. 8220;One should have a special planning for board exams, but you have to have a regular and a comprehensive approach towards studies in every class. I used to go through the class lessons regularly at home and studied for 3-4 hours during exams,8221; she says, emphasising on the extra-curricular activities, that helped her do better in studies. She has scored 92.4 per cent and wants to become a cardiologist.

Another student with 92.4 per cent marks, Ameek Kohli of Sacred Heart, believes that 8220;she got a good score because she was organised in approach and had finished the entire syllabus by January this year.8221; Ameek gives the credit to the sample papers too, as they 8220;give a broad outline about the format of the papers,8221; but 8220;the guides may not bring success for they make your learning process stereo-typed.8221; She also wants to join the medical profession.

Gourie Sharma, the topper of Bhavan Vidyalaya with 92.2 per cent, never expected to figure in the range of 90s. 8220;I put in four hours of hard labour with no extra coaching just before the exams. But I think, more than that I have been rewarded because of my clear perception and confidence,8221; she says. She wants to become an engineer.

8220;I was never tense about the exams. Nor was I too studious. Since September last, I have been studying for two-three hours daily with no tuitions, but I never left any extra-curricular activities,8221; says Jyoti Eknoor Brar of Sacred Heart School, who wants to join the medical profession to serve humanity. She has also got 92.2 per cent marks.

Shubroz Gill of DAV Public School, Sector 8-C, however, says put in eight hours of labour every day during exams. 8220;My aim is to do computer engineering from IIT. I can work hard and be successful only when I focus well on my target,8221; he says, as he thanks his tutor of maths, parents and teachers for their motivation and encouragement. Shubroz has got 99 per cent marks in Maths with his total percentage coming to 92.2.

Hitesh Goel of Government Model School, Sector 35, finds regular hard work and concentrated study a key to his success. 8220;Unlike many other students I have always tried to learn from text books. Guides make you cram things rather than learn,8221; he says, adding that he was particular about science. He too aspires to do engineering from IIT. Hitesh has secured 92 per cent.
