Bangalore, May 1: 8220;India is not suddenly going to win all the One-Day matches and Test matches just because we have started this National Cricket Academy,8221; cautioned Rodney Marsh, former Australian Test cricketer, Director of the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy and consultant of the BCCI8217;s National Cricket Academy, here on Monday.

8220;What will fetch them a place in the Indian team will only be performance. We can help them to get there. But all the hard work has to be done by them.8221;

Outlining the nitty-gritties that went into the making of the Academy, Marsh, tongue-in-cheek, stated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI has floated the world8217;s most recent cricket academy.

8220;It has no gymnasium, swimming pool, indoor nets, residential quarters and other things that go on to make an academy. But that is because we are only in the first phase. All these things will come up soon. And because this academy is the latest, we hope that the technology, equipment and other paraphernalia will be the best. There will not be any need for trial and error. We simply have to pick the best from others to have a world class facility.8221;

Marsh said he would come down to Bangalore at least five times each year and closely work with Hanumanth Singh Director, Roger Binny and Vasu Paranjpe coaches.

8220;The boys would be taught to adapt to different situations and conditions. For example, in Australia early this year, the Indian batsmen were peppered with fast, short-pitched bowling. They found that difficult to handle. They defended all right. But could not score. Sooner or later, they were dismissed.

8220;They did not have a strategy to counter the Australian game plan. Now this academy will work on aspects like that and present the boys with means and ways to tackle different situations. Of course it is left up to them to rise to the level and grasp the strategies offered.

8220;In fact even if Test cricketers come to us, like they often do in Australia, and talk of their shortcomings, our specialists will try and devise a counter strategy to suit their needs and present it to them. It is left to them to go away and try these methods and make a success of it. The better players adapt faster,8221; he said.
