MUMBAI, December 11: The Nanded Gurudwara is the supreme religious body of the Sikh community in Nanded. There is a sizeable Sikh population in Nanded and the show cause notice issued today is likely to cause ripples in the community.

The Gurudwara board members and its chairperson are facing charges of irregularities. The government has given the board a fortnight to reply to the show cause notice.

Revenue Minister Narayan Rane had summonned a high level meeting today in Mantralaya to decide what action should be taken against the board. “The state government has received serious complaints about functioning of the board from time to time. Collector of Nanded had conducted an enquiry into the complaints and had submitted a detailed report to the Aurangabad divisional commissioner. Varification of the report has revealed that there are serious irregularities in different purchases made by the board, appointments at various levels in the board and renting out buildings owned by the board. Once the board members and the chairperson reply to the notice, we will take further action,” said Rane.
