The AIIMS Bill fixing the age limit of the director, passed recently by the Lok Sabha, has dashed the hopes of many people. One such person is Professor NK Ganguly, recently retired from the Indian Council of Medical Research. His application for extension of service is unlikely to be accepted, since, according to Health Ministry sources, such a move would provide ammunition to the camp that is opposed to Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss. The rumours doing the rounds is that Dr KK Talwar, Director of PGI Chandigarh, will be considered for the post. Meanwhile, an upbeat staff of Ramadoss8217; office is letting out that top doctors of AIIMS originally aligned with incumbent Dr P Venugopal have started making calls to the minister8217;s staffers inquiring about what Ramadoss thinks of them. It8217;s called the 8220;Lok Sabha effect8221;, now wait to see what happens after Rajya Sabha clears the Bill, smirk these officials.
