8226; I8217;m 20 and have been suffering from Osteo-myelitis for six years. I was operated on twice, but it didn8217;t help. I have stopped taking medicines as it was no good. What should I do?

Dr Surya Bhan, Head of the Department, Orthopaedy, AIIMS, says:

Depending on conditions of the bone, repeated operations and repeated course of antibiotics is necessary. Cure is possible in 45 of cases, though it takes repeated surgeries. Another 45 have a tendency of getting pus. Chronic infection can lead to infections in other parts of the body like kidney, bones and lungs. So it is necessary to get it treated.
