MUMBAI, SEPT 5: A superb medium pace bowling by Rahul Thakur enabled Young Maharashtra defeat Cricket Club of India by five wickets and record the only win in the A Division Dr HD Kanga Cricket League at Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.

The ninth day was marred by continuous rain throughout the day as result of which three out of seven matches ended in a draw while three matches were washed out without ball being bowled. No match could be held at Shivaji Park and Matunga.

Cricket Club of India, after being put in to bat, were 16 for seven at one stage before the eighth wicket pair of Vikram Dayal (36) and Onkar Khanvilkar (15 not out) put on 49 runs and helped them to 80.

An unfinished 151-run partnership for the first wicket between left-handed Nishit Shetty (72 not out, 1×6, 5×4) and Praful Dhule (50not out, 5×4) was not enough for Karnatak Sporting Association to overtake MB Union’s 162-8 declared at the Cross Maidan.
