Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has dismissed reports that he would be formally coronated as 8216;King of Hindus8217;.

A Marathi daily had recently reported plans by one Avadhoot Bhise to conduct the coronation ceremony at the Shivaji Park grounds, the venue where the saffron party was launched and also of the annual Dussehera rally of the Shiv Sena.

A statement by the Sena chief in the Wednesday issue of party mouthpiece Saamna said Thackeray had 8220;ridiculed8221; the idea. 8220;Whose coronation is this, and with whose permission is this going on?8221; said the statement, adding that Thackeray had not indulged in such gimmicks so far and also not permitted anyone to carry out such programmes.

8220;The post of the Sena chief has been given to me by the people, and is important for me. I have made a decision not to accept any positions of power, fight elections and write autobiographies. The post of the Sena chief is more powerful than any sinhasans thrones. That is why I am publicly announcing that such moves to carry out my coronation should not be initiated by anyone,8221; said Thackeray.

He added that he had received the 8220;love of the Shiv Sainiks and the people for the last 40 years as the Sena chief8221; and said all positions and thrones were trivial before the faith of his cadre.
