The nexus between politicians and the Telgi scam accused figured once again in the Lok Sabha on Friday with both the Opposition and ruling UPA exchanging allegations. The BJP demanded that the truth be told about the allegations of involvement of a former Karnataka CM and a Union minister in the scam. However, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee denied the BJP notice moved by Ananth Kumar as the reference was to a person and not a member of the House. Stung by this ruling, the BJP members got on their feet and demanded to know why the ruling side kept mentioning Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, as he was also not a member of the House. After a short while, the Speaker allowed Kumar to speak and he referred to the deposition made by a former police official alleging the involvement of a Union minister and ex-CM of Karnataka. Upon this, RJD MPs brought out photographs showing former Defence Minister George Fernandes with the Telgi accused. During Question Hour, the Opposition walked out at 11.15 am when Coal Minister Shibu Soren stood up to answer a question on withdrawal of Centrally-sponsored schemes in his ministry.
