CHANDIGARH, Sept 3: Telephone and cellular services in the city were severely affected today with the disruption in the cable connecting Chandigarh and Mohali.
The repair in the causeway had earlier led to snapping of the telephone cable between the two cities and most of Mohali and Kharar remained disconnected from the city.
With the switches of the cellular phone companies also being routed through Mohali, their services were also affected.
Principal General Manager Prithipal Singh when contacted said he was hopeful of completing most of the work by the evening and the remaining job would be completed by tomorrow.Connectivity to Sectors 38 and 39 was also disrupted as these telephones are routed through the Mohali exchange. The snag follows the commencement of repairs at the causeway between Chandigarh and Mohali, which had partly collapsed due to the rains.
