After a careful scrutiny of the audit report and the records of Telecommunication Wing, it had been revealed that Rs 75,74,984 was withdrawn on March 31, 1999, and had been shown disbursed on the same date in the cash book, whereas no amount was paid to the supplier on this date, but disbursed as Rs 33,34,401 on January 9 and Rs 28,59,480 on October 21, 1999.
Also, it has been found that the SP had cheated the government by keeping the amount outside the government account, causing a loss of Rs 8,26,758, approximately at the rate of 20 per cent per annum, to the government. Further, it has been alleged that the SP deducted Rs 13,81,103 from the bill for late supply of the material, which could not be recovered from the supplier.
