
PATIALA, Aug 3: On a call given by AIFUCTO, the Punjab Government College Teachers Association has decided to observe protest day tomorrow. The teachers would wear black badges, hold group rallies in their vacant periods for the mobalisation of indefinite stay in strike to be observed from August 11.
They have also decided to pass resolutions to be sent to the Prime Minister, HRD Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, chairperson UGC and a copy to AIFUCTO condemning the unilateral decision of the HRD Minister in announcing the new pay scales for the university and college teachers ignoring the recommendations of UGC.
Dr P.S. Bhatti, president of the association said that while other conditions of the UGC pertaning to the service matters were being applied to the college and university teachers, UGC recommendations of pay scales were being denied to them.
Meanwhile, the Punjabi University Teachers Association executive met under the chairmanship of Dr Balbir Singh Nanda, decided to hold a rally-cum-dharna in front of Vice Chancellor8217;s office tomorrowOn the call given by AIFUCTO, Dr Jaswinder Singh, secretary, PUTA said that entire faculty would wear black badges in protest against HRD Ministry notification.
Amritsar: The teachers will observe stay-in-strike and hold rally at Khalsa College during the beginning of second phase of their agitation tomorrow in protest against the government8217;s decision for not releasing the UGC recommendeed scales, this was stated here by V.K.Sharma, district president of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union PCCTU.
Sharma condemned Murli Manohar Joshi, HRD Minister for unilaterly announcing the scales which were no where near the UGC recommendations.
He said AIFUCTO has a membership of more than three lakh university and college teachers and represents more than 9000 colleges and 200 universities.
NAHAN: Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers Association, Nahan unit, would go on one day stay-in-strike tomorrow in protest against the non-implementation of the UGC scales.
Anil Rattan Verma, secretary of the association, said that the decision had been taken on the directions of the central body. He said that if the government failed to implement the UGC recommendations, the college teachers might join indefinite strike from August 11 next.
Chandigarh: Teaching work in city colleges and the university is likely to be affected tomorrow with teachers deciding to heed to the call given by the AIFUCTO to protest the non acceptance of scales for teachers as recommended by the University Grants Commission UGC.
Teachers have announced that no teaching work would take place tomorrow. While the initial call was to proceed on mass casual leave, private college teachers have decided to sit in a dharna in their college campus. According to N.P.Manocha of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union PCCTU, all teachers will assemble at the Housing Board Chowk to hold a demonstration.
