PUNE, June 2: Meher Khanfar, the wife of the first secretary with the Palestinian embassy at Delhi working as a teacher with the St Helenas’ School here, yesterday sought police protection alleging that a foreign student residing as a paying guest at her house in Pune Cantonment had threatened her of dire consequences.
The application, submitted at the Cantonment Police Station last evening stated that the Palestinian student Mustafa Ali Abu Sowed, threatened to do bodily harm to Meher and to abduct her daughters after she tipped off the foreigners’ branch of Pune police that he did not have proper documents.In a separate application moved by her before the Cantonment Police on May 29, Meher stated that Mustafa uttered the threat following a scuffle with her on May 27.
According to the application, Mustafa, who is a friend of Meher’s husband Mohannad, was staying as a paying guest at her residence at 2, East Street for the last two-and-a-half years. It also stated that Mustafa had left her residence with some of his belongings on May 28.
ABDUCTION: Jyoti Laxmanappa Nayak, a 30-year-old woman residing in the red-light area of Budhwar Peth was yesterday arrested by the Faraskhana police on charges of abducting a 13-year-old girl from Andhra Pradesh and forcing her to enter prostitution. Police said Jyoti lured the girl to accompany her to Pune under the garb of providing a job about a week back.
