Incensed over the alleged firing at party chief Mamata Banerjee at Nandigram, irate Trinamool youth Congress supporters on Monday took to the streets in Kolkata setting up road blocks and damaging buses.

A government bus was damaged in stone-pelting incident by Trinamool supporters at Kalighat, according to Deputy Commissioner headquarters of city police Vineet Goel.

The Trinamool activists deflated the tyres of several buses and blocked various important intersections and streets including Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, S N Banerjee Road, Hazra, Gopalnagar and Kalighat.

Goel said Pradesh Youth Congress workers brought out a procession from Kalighat tram depot in protest against CPIM atrocities at Nandigram.

The trouble-torn Nandigram in East Midnapore district was rocked by fresh violence with Banerjee on Sunday claiming she had been fired at when her convoy reached Tekhali bridge.

West Bengal chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, however, said Banerjee8217;s allegation had no basis.
