Tarlochan seeks Pranab help for Kabul cremation troubles

Rajya Sabha member and former chairman of National Commission for Minorities Tarlochan Singh appealed to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to look into the matter regarding problems faced by Sikhs and Hindus in cremating their dead ones in Afghanistan.

The appeal followed a protest march by some 100 Sikhs with the coffin of a community elder through the streets of Kabul on Monday.

A cremation ground owned by the Sikh community in the Afghan capital was grabbed by encroachers, forcing the Sikhs to cremate their dead inside 8220;gurdwaras8221;. But even this has become difficult due to objections from people living in the neighbourhood.
