SHRIRAMPUR, Oct 8: The Loni police today fished out the body of Chandrakant Ghogare, the main suspect in the brutal double murder of brothers Dattatray and Navnath Tavare, from the well in which the body of Navnath was found on Monday. Three other suspects, however, are still at large.

The Tavares were allegedly murdered by Ghogare and his accomplices just after Sunday midnight after they spurned Ghogare’s wish to marry their sister.

The investigators were apprehensive about Ghogare’s fate who reportedly had told his accomplices about his plan to end his life after committing the crime. Ghogare, who was missing since the ghastly incident, apparently went back to the well and drowned himself, the police said.

Hands and legs of the body were found tied. The police, who got an anonymous call about the body, are now probing if Ghogare’s death was really a suicide. His uncle has already alleged that it was a case of murder.

The police have arrested five youths — Govind Talole, Sanjay Shinde, Tanaji Bansode, Salim Shaikh and Kuttya alias Sudhakar Nikale — have been remanded to police custody till October 15. Three other suspects — Sunil Bansode, Viju Bansode and Raju Shaikh — are missing.
