
Engineers8217; Day celebrated
Vadodara: The Engineers8217; Association of Indian Railways recently celebrated the Engineers8217; Day to mark the 137th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna M Vishveshwariah. Delivering a lecture on Rail Engineers 8211; Face with New Technology8217;, EAIR Zonal President D R Pandey observed that in a resource crunch situation, significant savings in investments and costs of operation, along with improvement in quality of service can be realised by inducting modern technology.
School wins
Kalrav School, Halol secured the first position in the field of Quality circle, for their case study on heavy bags which students have to carry to school everyday. While Managing Director of Baroda Dairy R Mathur gave away Shastri Trophy to the students, a number of cultural programmes were also organised in the evening. The students were honoured at the IXth Annual convention on Quality circles. Among others, P S Rao of Gujarat Refinery, P R Patel, managing director of Sumul Dairy, Surat, and D D Sudame of Reliance Industries were present on the occasion.
Garba contest
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has organised a Garba competition at the Gandhi Nagar Gruh beginning October 2. While cash prizes will be given to winners, an amount of Rs 501 will be given to students of the Nari Suraksha Kendra and those of the Blind Girls8217; school.
