
RMS members stage dharna
Members of the Railway Mail Service RMS, showing solidarity with the striking postal employees, staged a dharna at the Surat Railway station, even as postal services continued to remain disrupted on the seventh day on Tuesday. Striking employees staged protests at their respective post offices in the city. However, members of the BPEU, who has not joined the stir, rendered their services.
Results out
The results of the music and dance examinations conducted by the Bruhad Sangeet Kala Kendra, Ahmedabad and the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai, have been declared. A number of city students, who had appeared for examinations in different grades of classical music and dance, were awarded certificates. The Jeevanbharati Vidyalaya, Ahmedabad has released a list of students who have cleared the examinations.
Panel meeting
The Surat District Co-ordination and Complaints Committee will be held here at the collectorate on July 18, according to a release issued by District Collector R M Shah. The meeting, held every month and attended by elected representatives of the district besides police chiefs and other departmental heads, will discuss grievances of people and other important issues, the collector stated. The meeting is slated for 11 am instead of the customary 4:30 pm, the release added.
Acupuncture
A free acupuncture therapy camp, organised jointly by the Maharshi Charitable Trust and the Krupanidhi Trust, will be held in the city from July 17 to 26 at Choksi Wadi in Rander. Patients will be treated free of costs and specialists in the field will administer the treatment between 2 and 5 pm, according to a Trust release. Those ailing from polio, paralysis, constipation and other diseases will be treated at the camp.
Puppet show
The Social Welfare department of the government, the Nashabandhi Mandal and Parivartan De-addiction Centre jointly conducted a puppet show, highlighting the disastrous effects of addictive substances like liquor, tobacco and narcotics. The puppet show was held in several villages as part of a district-wide campaign to create awareness regarding the ill-effects of tobacco.
Exhibition
Vadodara: K A Automation will organise a two-day live demonstration-cum-exhibition of automation and security products manufactured by the country8217;s topmost companies between 9 am to 6.30 pm on July 17 and 18 at VCCI hall, Makarpura GIDC. Both domestic and industrial security products will be on display.
Scholarships
Sheth Pestonji Framji Contractor trustee Jimmy H Havewala has announced that scholarships will be awarded to poor and middle-class Parsi college students residing in Vadodara or studying in the M S University.
Coaching camp
The Bank Workers Co-operative Credit and Consumers Society Limited will hold a free coaching camp on July 19 for applicants appearing in Banking Service Recruitment Board exams for the clerical categories.
