
Hike in ST bus fare
The divisional controller of GSRTC, has announced a hike in the bus fare of the ST bus service operating from Vasad to Vadodara. The hike has been effected considering the extra distance, which buses on this route have to travel because of repairs being carried out on the Mahi bridge.
ST buses have to divert from their normal route from Vasad and take the Asodar Chokdi, Umta Bridge, Vadodara route, travelling an extra 22 kilometres in the process. The hike, the official clarified, was applicable to only those buses going towards Vadodara as the approach road from Vadodara was still open for traffic.
Traffic directive
The deputy commissioner of police traffic in a directive issued on Tuesday, has banned four-wheelers from the JJ market to Golwala market road from 10 am to 12.30 pm and from 4 to 7:30 pm. The restrictions, he said, have been imposed to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours. Defaulters will be fined, he warned.
SUDA demolition
The Surat Urban Development Authority SUDA on Tuesday demolished illegally constructed compound walls of a number of establishments in Puna village on the outskirts of the city. SUDA officials said the walls were blocking vehicular traffic. The urban authority has also decided to lodge police cases against those encroaching upon land or constructing buildings without permission.
Talk on politics
Retired judge of the Mumbai High Court justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari will deliver a talk on Undercurrents in Contemporary Politics8217; at a function organised by Lokmanch at Circuit House on May 23 at 7 pm. According to Vasant Dalal and Babubhai Desai of Lokmanch, the political situation had deteriorated and so there was a need for some brainstorming to come up with new ideas.
Lt-general8217;s visit
Vadodara: Lieutenant General A S Khanna, AVSM, VrC, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Southern Command Pune, accompanied by his wife Meera Khanna, will visit the EME School, Vadodara on Wednesday. The visiting General will be received and takena round the school by Major General M C Sebastin, Commandant EME School, while Meera Khanna will witness the family welfare activities of the institution.
